We are so lucky. East West Exchange, our local bookstore, coffee house http://www.ew-exchange.com/hosted Mark Holland a talented Native American flute player Saturday night. With ambient lighting, great acoustics and a skilled musician this was a special night for us. Too bad more people didn't take advantage of it. They really missed a great evening of entertainment. To find out more about Mark Holland and sample his beautiful music visit his website http://www.cedarnsagemusic.com/

Boy Can That Man Bake!!
Peach Pie
Our neighbors, Pat and Joe, returned from their summer
jobs at Yellowstone and brought us a big box of Utah
peaches. Pete whipped up this pie that not only looks
beautiful it tasted delicious. His lattice top is just
the icing on the cake!

My Fun Birthday in Phoenix
Toot My Own Horn
The girls took Pete and me to the Phoenix Symphony for an afternoon performance. We saw excerpts from The Music Man. It was a great afternoon.

Lucas Restaurant
from a review on yelp.com"To start, we shared the large Greek salad and the roasted hearts of palm with beets. The Greek salad was good, but not outstanding. It had grilled tomatoes, which I thought was an interesting choice. Interesting is not necessarily good. However, the artichokes made up for the tomato issue. These were not out of a jar or can, my friends. So yummy! The hearts of palm were delicious and the nutty flavor was perfectly off-set by the sweetness of the beets.
For dinner, we had the Lamb Skewers with Tzatziki, Chicken Francese, and Tagliatelle Bolognese (which is listed as Orecchiette, but the waitress informed us it had been changed). The lamb was delicious and was served with julienned vegetables and Israeli couscous. As for the Francese, the large piece of chicken could have been pounded thinner, but that is a preference thing. The balance between the lemon and wine in the sauce was impecable. It was served with the same veggies and mashed potatoes. However, the all-star of the meal was the pasta. The noodles were clearly homemade, and were deliciously light. The sauce had a rich tomato flavor which accompanied the flavor of the beef perfectly. There was also an undertone of red-wine which really highlighted the depth of the sauce. The waitress let us know that they are also serving this dish with spinach in it. Mom doesn't like spinach, so we went without. We didn't suffer a bit.
Overall, Luca is a jewel for the region...but would put up some serious competition outside of Keene as well. We will definitely be back. Mom and dad have been convinced that you don't have to starve outside of New York." I couldn't say it better myself.

The Clark Museum, Williams College
We met Betty and Carl at the Clark in time for lunch.
Pete and I shared two entrees, crab cakes and faux sushi. They each came with a salad of fresh greens and were
delicious. Betty and Carl both had a tapa plate which brought raves from them.
We spent a leisurely afternoon browsing the permanent collection and the two
visiting exhibits. It was an easy hour drive back to West Dover.

Our Vermont Vacation Retreat
In A Cottage
We rented this lovely house near Mt. Snow,Vermont for the month of August, 2010. It was cozy and comfortable and had everything we needed. We had a nice
deck where we enjoyed the pleasing temps
during the day. It was a nice relief from
the summer temps in Arizona.
