Refurbs

It all sort of started in 1969. My future husband and I were to be married in November and we had absolutely nothing for our Boston basement apartment. My mom had been give a desk like this one by her neighbor and she suggested we could cut it down and make it into end tables. She did most of the project and we used an "antiquing kit" that was popular at the time to give it a woodgrain effect that wasn't oak of which it was made.
Made by my father-in-law. Quite the character. He'd build small projects during intermission of the football games on t.v.. Couldn't sit still.

It was time after 14 years of retirement to start the projects I was going to do "some day." Might as well get the show going. After spending way too much time perusing other crafter's sights like Miss Mustard Seed and Annie Sloan's time to dig out the paints.

Picked this up for about $1.00. Was pretty grungy.

Forgot to take a before picture of this ladder back chair. Picture it as solid 60's orange.

Before picture is after I sanded it down. It was gunked up with latex and looked liked someone had put textured sheff liner on top of it while it was still wet! Took a lot of sanding.Got a little carried away when I discovered I could peel off a big piece of paint. It was like a thin piece of plastic rubber.  Got it for $1.00 or free. Can't remember where. think my husband said, "Are you sure you want that?" Tucked it in my pantry for paper supplies and things I don't use that often.
I can remember getting this at a garage sale about 15 years ago. It languished in my garage for just the right inspiration. Looks rather nice in my hallway with Grandma's little girl picture on it and one of her beautiful floral paintings above.
This magazine rack had Marshall's tag on the bottom. I might do more with it.

Bought this at Renninger's Market in Adamstown, Pa in about 1976. Paid $24. Couldn't believe my girlfriend was saying "IS THAT ALL?" before I paid the dealer. Used it inside for houseplants before putting it on the covered deck.

Bought this about 13 years ago thinking it would be good for when Granddaughter Kirsten came to visit. Never quite got around to painting it until now.
